Course Descriptor
Developed by SQA and underpinned by the BACP & ACC ethical framework, this course’s aim is to equip students with the skills to successfully work in the Counselling field. We teach not only the current theories and concepts used within the counselling field, but we also facilitate experiential learning. The course runs on a part-time basis, one day a week.

This course is underpinned by the BACP & ACC ethical framework. There is no placement required for this course, although peer to peer counselling of up to 20 hours is required.
Jobs & Further study
The HNC may lead to work within an agency, charity or organisation where counselling skills are required.
Candidates who successfully complete this course may apply for HND Counselling.

Recommended:
- Introduction to Counselling
- NC working with communities.
- NC social sciences.
- NC health and social care.
- Certificate in Christian Leadership in addition to a personal interview and candidate statement.
- Applicants may also demonstrate that they have the potential to meet the academic demands for the course by other methods.
Required:
- The maturity with which to handle the course.
- The passion & tenacity to see the course through to completion.
- A minimum age of 18 at the start of the course.
- Satisfactory references.
NB: Applications will be considered from those with no formal application who have relevant life / work experience.

Induction Days
Classes run one day a week on Fridays from 9:30am to 4:30pm except during Induction days. Induction is on Thur 14th Sept & Fri 15th Sept from 9:30am – 4:30pm. Students must attend Induction days.
ONLINE & ON-DEMAND
For those who live further afield there is the option to study online (in real time, via zoom) or on-demand (at a time and place suitable to you).
Those studying online will receive a zoom link to join the classroom teaching and all videos and notes will be made available one week later.
Those studying on-demand will get access to Destiny College on-demand platform where all classroom teaching videos and notes will be made available one week later.
The online and on-demand students are expected to meet all the requirements of the course by being involved with serving and evangelism in their local church. The College office will be in close communication with your local pastor to ensure you are doing well and receiving the support you need while studying at Destiny College.
